Jane's story is that of a plain yet spirited girl, orphaned at an early age, who becomes governess at Thornfield Hall, where she falls in love with Edward Fairfax Rochester, the master of the house. Though Jane's sharp wit and defiant nature clash with Rochester's temperament, the two quickly develop a deep bond. But Rochester's past, a dark secret imprisoned at Thornfield, threatens to destroy their love just as it begins, as it ultimately destroys Thornfield Hall itself.
True to its 19th century origins, Jane Eyre is a lavish Victorian banquet of emotions; passion, cruelty, revenge, repression, courage, emotional and physical abuse, faith and forgiveness, and love - most of all the eternal healing power of an all-consuming love.
The classic Charlotte Brontë story of the British governess, Jane Eyre, has entertained and inspired generations, making it one of the truly great love stories of all time and it certainly makes a dramatic storyline for a Broadway musical.

The central characters are given added depth and dimension through the clever and even prophetic lyrics of composer Paul Gordon who has brought his infectious style of writing to the musical of genre of Broadway. The show was nominated for a number of Tony Awards in 2001 including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book of a Musical.

"The Director wanted Jane Eyre positioned with a smouldering Rochester behind - a classic composition used in previous productions. We shot the principals during rehearsal, anticipating the dramatic landscape background to be shot later. I also used a wind machine to add movement to Janes costume, which worked well with the lighting. It's often the case that small details can make all the difference. Attention to detail is very important to us at Purple Turtle Media."
